Tap Water Watch announced today the water bottle filling stations donated one year ago have saved over one million single-use plastic bottles.
The water bottle filling stations were donated to high schools in Florida, Louisiana, North Carolina and South Carolina as part of the Making Water COOL in School initiative.
The Making Water COOL in School initiative replaces old, contaminated school drinking fountains with new, filtered water bottle filling stations to schools throughout the country. Each time a water bottle filling station is used it counts it as a plastic bottle saved.
“We are very excited to announce the huge strides we’ve made this year in providing filtered drinking water to schools while saving single-use plastic water bottles,” said Tap Water Watch, CEO, Scott Nelson. Although we are proud of the progress we’ve made so far, there are still many schools in need and a lot more work to do.”
